This year's Sonar Festival takes place at two places in Spain, in Barcelona and La Coruña on the 16^th of June until the 18^th of June. Both are taking place at the same weekend.

Those of you who have not booked an apartment in Barcelona or a hotel in Barcelona yet, should be aware that thousands of people will come into the city in the middle of June. It is known as the central party for electronic music lovers. There are various tickets available for Sonar Festival 2011. The Pass allows access to the 3 day events and the two night events and costs 155 €. A Sonar by night ticket costs 60 euros is for one by night event.

The 42nd Voll-Damm Festival Internacional de Jazz de Barcelona (the official name) will start on October 3rd and end on December 2nd throughout the whole city. Classical concerts are every Thursdays and Fridays and start at 10pm while jazz concerts take place every Tuesdays Wednesdays at 10pm. For municipal band concerts, you should check the dates on the Musica als Parcs program but keep in mind that they all start at 8pm.

As every year, the musicians for classical concerts were selected by a jury of experts and are a part of the Conservatorio del Gran Teatro program y de la ESMUC (Escuela Superior de Música de Cataluña) . The jazz musicians were also carefully selected so you can be sure to listen to good music!

After 22 years since the band existed Green Day is one of the most important punk bands in America. They stayed themselves and don´t care to criticize the government or politicians. The band was created in 1989 from Billie Joes Armstrong and Mike Dirnt who are still in the band. Later Tre Cool adjoined them.

The band was formed in 1996 in London by band members Chris Martin, Guy Berryman, Jonny Buckland and Will Champion. After years of doing gigs in little clubs in Camden they finally had commercial success with their in 2000 released album "Parachutes". Soon after this their second album "A Rush of Blood to the Head" was released which was even more successful than their debut album. With their third album "X&Y" Coldplay could keep up with the huge success of the first two albums. After a little break they finally came back with "Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends" which was co-produced by Brian Eno.

The Viva-la-Vida-Tour started in 2008 and finally Coldplay are coming to Barcelona. Get ready for a massive concert in the Estadi Olímpic on the 4th of September!

This year, the 16. Edition of the Sonar festival is taking place in Barcelona. It's the largest and most famous festival for electro-music within Europe.
