If you walk slowly from the Sagrada Familia on the Avinguda de Gaudí, after around 4 crossroads, you will encounter another masterpiece of Barcelona's architecture: the Hospital Sant Pau Barcelona.

And indeed you can see the similarity of style that both buildings possess. Today is the Hospital Sant Pau Barcelona with the Palau de la Musica a UNESCO World Heritage Site and has been used as a hospital until 2009. If you plan to spend your holidays in Barcelona, you should not forget this masterpiece of architecture and style when you stay in your Barcelona accommodation. The Hospital Sant Pau is often overlooked by many, but is absolutely worth a visit.

Although at the moment tours are not available due to restorative works being done, the Hospital Sant Pau Barcelona is nevertheless worth a visit. The architectural work is detailed and fascinating to observe, from the inside as well as from the outside, so also the façade of the Hospital Sant Pau in Barcelona is worth the attention. If you book Barcelona accommodation near the hospital, you can even see it as often as you want.

The World Heritage hospital is located in the Horta-Guinardo district of Barcelona, in the north of the city. It is easy to access during holidays in Barcelona, as there are different metro stations and busses near the hospital. This makes the hospital one of the sights in Barcelona with a good connection, an important factor when staying in your Barcelona accommodation.

To reach the Hospital Sant Pau Barcelona, you can take the blue metro line L5 and step out at Sant Pau (Dos de Maig), or you can take the yellow line L4 and step out at Guinardo.

In order to reach the hospital sight by bus, you can take the following bus lines in Barcelona: 15, 19, 20, 35, 45, 47, 50, 51, 92, 117 or 192.

But what I recommend you if you like to walk around the beautiful architecture of Barcelona with its nice streets and avenues during your holidays in Barcelona, is to start your tour at the Sagrada Familia and then walk towards the Hospital Sant Pau Barcelona. This way, you can enjoy two sights in Barcelona in one tour, because the distance between the two sights (which are both UNESCO World Heritages Sites) is very small.

Then, after admiring Gaudi's masterpiece with its fascinating architecture, go to the Avinguda Gaudi, directly next to the Sagrada Familia. It is the avenue lined with trees at is sites, running diagonally and crossed by Carrer de la Marina and Carrer de Provença (there is also a gas station, as a help).

Then you can walk comfortably along the wide street, passing cute and nice shops, restaurants and bars, maybe also stop by and enjoy some tapas.

After around 4 crossways, you will reach the Hospital Sant Pau Barcelona and can admire another one of Barcelona's many sights during your stay in Barcelona accommodation!
