Torre Agbar: Barcelona's shining colossus

The Torre Agbar belongs to the new sights of the city of Barcelona. It is a 32-storeyed tower peaking 142m in the Barcelona sky.

torre-agbar.jpgWhat Barcelona viditors can admire, when they have booked accommodation in Barcelona, such as a hotel in Barcelona, is an impressing bulding with a unique "light show" at its surface. Especially during evening hours, the spectacle is very impressing. With a 142m hieght, the Torre Agbar is not only one of the highest but also one of the most impressing buildings of Barcelona.

The tower has a front of 16,000m³ and a form of a water fountain. Also, during the day the tower appears as a quick-change artist. Over 40 different gloss paint arrange it so that the tower even changes its appearance during daytime. Builing this increadable "fountain" made a draft on 59,619 (partly) transparent glass slabs In addition to that, 250 tons of aluminium and 25,000m³ cement have been used.

4500 light emitting diodes arrange it so that the whole tower shines in red, yellow, blue and pink. Seeing it in the dark is a huge spectacular that you should not miss. You can visit the "shining" colossus at Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 9pm to 12pm. It can be found at "Plaça de les Glories Catalanes"; metro station Glories (line 1). During winter time the show starts at 8pm and takes place until 11pm.
