Studying in Barcelona

I think everyone who watched the movie" L'auberge espagnol" thought to himself: wouldn't it be great to live and study in Barcelona for a while, a semester maybe. Take your chance and just spent wonderful 6-12 months in one of the several universities in Barcelona. You can choose between 5 universities, University of Barcelona, Autonomous University of Barcelona, Pampeu Fabra University and the Polytechnic University of Catalunya. Here you go with some information about the most well known ones:

University of Barcelona

The public university with campuses all over Barcelona was founded in 1450 already. The university consists of 18 different faculties with all kinds of areas you can study in. Your lectures can either be in Spanish, Catalan or English depending on what you are studying but make sure you know that Catalan is the major language in administration etc before coming to Barcelona.

Ramon Llull University

This private university was founded in 1990 and is probably best known for its famous business faculty ESADE. Right now about 14.000 students are enrolled. Most faculties are located within the city.

Autonomous University Barcelona

This university is situated in the metropolitan area of Barcelona in a suburb called Bellaterra. It consists of 50 departments with 11 faculties while more than 100 postgraduate programmes are offered to students. UAB gathers more than 50.000 students. It is well known for its research qualities.

If you looking for a flat in Barcelona to study at one of the universities it is probably the best thing to stay in one of the Barcelona apartments first and search for flats while you are here already instead on trusting pictures in the internet.
