Upcoming Christmas event @ BCN

On holidays in Barcelona and Christmas approaching, you might want to know more about traditions and customs in Catalonia? Rendezvous tomorrow for the beginning of the popular celebrations!
On the 12th of December is the Christmas traditions and customs day (Diada de Tradicions i Costums Nadalencs). This year it will take place in Plaça Nova, beginning in the morning with a tió popular, a Catalan game where children beat a log (tió) to get small presents. Then you will be given the possibility to follow a procession with the Barcelona Christmas Coach (Carassa de Nadal de Barcelona), a giant carnival figure who gives out sweets, accompanied by the Pessigolla de la Plaça Nova, grallers playing their shawms.
For your children, the afternoon, early evening, will be the perfect time to attend the Sebastià Vergés theatre company show which will be telling Christmas stories from 5.30pm. The best stallholder award, Firaire d'Honor, will be presented and the day will conclude with some magic and a dance performance by the youth section of the Esbart Català de Dansaires.
