This summer, Barcelona will offer to everyone the opportunity to rent a book while they are enjoying the beach. As beach time is leisure time, holiday makers might enjoy reading on the beach. During the summer months, July and August, the Barcelona Library Consortium in cooperation with the City Council Environment Department is providing beach libraries.
This service will be offered in two different beaches of Barcelona, the main one, La Barceloneta, from the 1st of July till 30th of September, and the Nova Mar Bella beach in Bac de Roda, from the 1st of July until the 31st of August. Just like in any of the city´s public librabry, interested beach goers can ask for a registration card (for free) that allows to borrow up to two items from the beach libraries per day. Just remember to return the books the same day after your relaxing day at the beach. The libraries offer 180 items each, including novels, comics, story books, daily newspaper and magazines, for adults and children. Everybody will be able to enjoy it as there will items available in Catalan, Spanish, English, French, Italian and German! Staying at Barcelona hotels or Barcelona apartments, holiday makers are not any longer forced to bring heavy books with them to the beach. Just enjoy the given facilities with the new service. Even from Barcelona apartments in Barceloneta that are very close to the beach you might want to benefit from the wide variety of items available at the Barcelona beach libraries. The two library centers are welcoming you daily from 11 am to 7 pm.
