Summer in the city

parc_guell.jpg
The best time of the year has arrived to Barcelona. Instead of staying in your apartment you can make use of lots of outdoors activities now, like going to the beach and swimming, going to the cinema, to the zoo or just for a walk.
Visit Montjüic Park by coming over by cable car from the waterfront or by taking the Funicular from Paral-lel metro. There you can can enjoy a nice view over the city, as well as the Olympic stadium, a castle, museums and a cactus garden.
If you are a fan of Gaudí you should seriously visit Park Güell. There you will have a nice view over Barcelona again and inside of the Park you will find the Museu Gaudí and lots of masterpieces of Gaudí.
Throughout the summer months small street festivals are held in different areas across the city. These events always involve markets, live music, dressing up and dancing. It is very nice to stay in a Barcelona beach apartment, but a good alternative to staying at
Barcelona´s crowded beaches is to get to calmer beaches near to Barcelona at the Costa Dorada or Costa Blanca.
You could easily use the train (Renfe).
Have a nice time in Barcelona!

Celebration of "Orgullo Gay"-Pride Gay in Barcelona

Last Sunday there was a Barcelona event: the manifestation of the 30th anniversary of Orgullo Gay was celebrated in the Catalan capital. The different associations of Barcelona which represents that sector of the population show their identity through colorful floats which go along the streets of the Ramblas, where you can also find nice holiday apartments with us.
Pride Gay took place to remember the first homosexual manifestation in Spain in June 1977, where transexuals fought together for their rights and sexual liberty.
Thanks to this manifestation, homosexuals got equal rights for gay and lesbians in Spain.
Since this June in 1977 every year th weekend next to the 28th of June it is celebrated the day of Orgullo LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transexual), also known as Día del Orgullo Gay.

The famous American film director, actor and writer is in Barcelona to find possible sceneries for his next movie this week. So far he has visited the tower of Agbar and the Sagrada Familia, which will be two of the possible sceneries of his new movie. It also is nice to stay in an apartment around the Sagrada Familia area.
The title of the movie is "Midnight in Barcelona" in which participate well known actors like Javier Bardem, Penelope Cruz and Scarlett Johannson. It is supposed to be a comedy about romance and misunderstandings like in the manner of one of his previous movies called "Scoop".

Continuous Metro service on Saturdays

Since April, 2007 you can enjoy Saturday´s nightlife without having pressure to miss the last Metro to get to your accommodation in Barcelona.
Opening hours have been changed as well for Fridays (5:00 a.m.-2:00 a.m.). From Sunday till Thursday the Metro operates from 5:00 a.m. to Midnight.
One of the recent highlights is that you can find Metro timetables on Google Maps.
Travelling by Metro is cheap and it comprehensively covers most of the city. Tickets can be bought in every station by a ticket machine.
If you are coming for a short-term-stay to Barcelona, the most recommendable ticket is the T-10 (10 passes for 6,90 ?). There are also day cards available but they are only worth it if you want to travel a lot.

According to HA Schult, "we produce trash and we turn ouselves into trash".
